Sensory Corners & Waiting Room Activities

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London have recently renovated and relocated all their children’s departments to make them more patient friendly and less clinical created a ‘Children’s Hospital’ within the main hospital.

Rhino UK enjoyed working with the play team to incorporate sensory equipment solutions within various wards and waiting areas to provide a sense of welcome and calmness to the environment whilst caring for the children’s needs, or even producing a method of distraction where required.

There were strict infection control policies within the hospital which Rhino UK vigilantly selected equipment within their range that could be easily maintained and sanitized to the standard required.

We fitted the treatment and assessment rooms with interactive fibre optic ceilings and Solar LED projectors for ultimate distraction and stimulation whilst undergoing procedures.  The play rooms and outpatients waiting room was fitted with our popular interactive projection floor and wall systems complete with activity tables and therapeutic resources from our JungleClean infection control friendly range.  We also made sure the areas were accessible for all ages and abilities by designing special multi sensory corners and areas for quiet relaxation and stimulation within the ward play rooms.  Rhino UK also worked with the Hospital art sector to create bespoke effect wheels for the Solar Projectors to enable the Hospitals cartoon characters to be projected through the wards.

Rhino UK found this project to be another successful sensory solution for those with a specific set of needs and requirements.
