AUTISM MULTI-SENSORY ROOM

Rhino UK works with the Cambian Group regularly to help them design and install bespoke sensory rooms in each of their new centres and establishments.  The multi-sensory room designs must be appropriate for their targeted users and vary in complexity from site to site as their budget allows.

A sensory room is an important area in an autism school and requires features to ensure breakage is minimal due to the hard use and strength of the pupils.

Cambian Group approached us to help design and install a new sensory room for their new and only specialist school for students 11-17 with autism or related conditions.  Rhino UK worked closely with the group’s Architect and Head Teacher to include age-appropriate accessible and robust resources.  This particular sensory room needed to be not only hard-wearing but attractive looking and an inviting place for the pupils to relax.

Rhino UK designed and installed the multi-sensory room to flow with the room’s shape and provided mixed areas for relaxation and stimulation.  The autism sensory room was fitted, complete with floor and wall padding, Bubble Tube Corner, fibre optics, interactive sound-sensitive wall panels, Bench Seating, Data Projector and sound system.  All the sensory equipment included was age-appropriate and positioned at suitable heights for all ages and abilities.

The project was completed in good time alongside the builders ready for the school’s opening.
