Making Sense of Senses at The Open
Last week, the Rhino Sensory Trailer travelled to Royal Troon in Scotland to support the 152nd Golfing Open.
Hosting an expected 250,000 fans, The R&A were keen to make the event as accessible as possible, providing an enjoyable spectator experience for all.
Working alongside The Shippey Campaign, they’d organised for our Sensory Trailer to be set up in their Spectator Village, offering families and spectators with autism and sensory processing disorders a safe space away from the green to rebalance their senses, find calm, and relax.
As Pete Shippey explained, “If you struggle with the atmosphere, the sensory trailer is a great place to go to calm down. After you’ve spent some time there, you can go back out and enjoy the competition.”

We’d like to thank The R&A for inviting us to support senses at The Open. We’re proud to play a part in making sport accessible for all.
