CHILDRENS HOSPICE SENSORY SPACE

Rhino UK was invited to visit this Hospice who required an existing sensory room to be refurbished; enabling children aged 0-18 with a range of specialist needs to access the room.  The room was completely round which added an extra dimension to the project providing much exuberance to the design team!  This project was won on design through popularity vote by staff in the hospice.

Rhino UK designed a room alongside the clients specifications and requirements; thus incorporating wheel chair and hoist access.  The increased disability access allowed children ‘time out’ from their wheelchairs enabling them to gain an increased multi sensory experience, positioned on the soft floor padding, bean bags or the water bed.  The client with the help of Rhino UK produced a fantastic Multi Sensory experience ensuring all children had equal opportunity of use.

As Activities Co-ordinator a Rachel House Children's Hospice I am responsible for the play and recreational areas within the hospice and in 2010 felt that our Multi Sensory Room was in need of a total make over. I invited 4 leading companies that design, manufacture and install such environments of which Rhino was one, to visit the hospice and submit a design to meet our specific remit. I was particularly impressed by the team from Rhino in their willingness to listen to our requirements and suggestions and then in providing us with a design that was both innovative, exciting and fitting the exacting needs of our client group. After being awarded the contract Rhino lived up to expectation by completing the work efficiently as scheduled and at a competitive cost. We now have a superb Multi Sensory Room which is loved by all our children and I would have no hesitation in working on future projects with Rhino and would gladly recommend their services to other care settings.
