Where has Rhino UK installed?
Reminiscence Corridors & Sensory Areas
North East, UK
Prestwick Care Homes
Prestwick Care provides specialist care services throughout the North East since 1992. They recently have refurbished 2 of their homes; Covent House and Addison Court. Their owners had a vision to incorporate sensory resources in their corridors and bathrooms to reduce anxiety for their dementia patients and provide reminiscence activities as they walked through the care home.
Rhino UK worked with their interior designer to design a suitable sensory tactile wall suitable for dementia sufferers with interactivity and a variety of activities for stimulating a range of senses. The custom designed tactile wall included LED lighting, aroma fans, tactile surfaces, and bells. Rhino UK installed the tactile walls within both homes along with fibre optic curtains to provide dementia friendly corridors.
Rhino UK also provided bubble walls and fibre optic curtains within the bathrooms to provide further dementia friendly facilities within the care homes. Bath time can be a stressful experience for dementia sufferers but sensory equipment can reduce their anxiety by creating a calming relaxing environment that the client can control.
Covent House is also now a proud owner of a dementia-friendly sensory lounge. Rhino UK designed and installed multi-sensory equipment to create a sensory corner in one of their lounges. This multi-sensory corner included Bubble Tube, Fibre Optic Carpet on the wall, Laser Stars, Ladder Lights, Projector and Sound System for a full multi-sensory experience.
