Royal Hospital for Children - Glasgow
Rhino UK have worked closely with the Yorkhill Charity, Play Specialists and Occupational Therapists to provide specialist sensory rooms, safe chill out rooms and portable sensory equipment for the wards and departments. Rhino UK used their expertise and specialist knowledge to design sensory rooms which could be used for a wide range of uses within the wards to relax, stimulate and rehabilitate patients of a range of ages and abilities but most importantly complied with their high infection control policies.
The Sensory Room on Chloe McIntyre Ward included hosit-accessible raised padding area, Hurricane Tube, Interactive Sensory Panels, OmiVista Interactive Floor Projection, LED Wall wash and much more for a fabulous multi-sensory experience accessible for all patients small to the teens.

Rachel House Hospice
Rhino UK was invited to visit this Hospice who required an existing sensory room to be refurbished; enabling children aged 0-18 with a range of specialist needs to access the room. The room was completely round which added an extra dimension to the project providing much exuberance to the design team! This project was won on design through popularity vote by staff in the hospice.

Chelsea & Westminster Hospital
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London have recently renovated and relocated all their children’s departments to make them more patient friendly and less clinical created a ‘Childrens Hospital’ within the main hospital.
Rhino UK enjoyed working with the play team to incorporate sensory equipment solutions within various wards and waiting areas to provide a sense of welcome and calmness to the environment whilst caring for the children’s needs, or even producing a method of distraction where required.

Royal Chesterfield Hospital
Rhino UK was invited to tender for this project at the Royal Chesterfield Hospital within the pediatric department. Rhino UK was awarded the contract, which included taking punctilious time to detailed information needed to meet the strict infection control standards within the trust. Rhino UK worked alongside the main building contractors as well as coordinating with the electrical contractors.
Rhino UK worked closely with the client to arrive at a design to accommodate a wide range of children and young people that come through the hospital. The project ran smoothly and all deadlines were met.

Prestwick Care Homes
Prestwick Care provides specialist care services throughout the North East since 1992. They recently have refurbished 2 of their homes; Covent House and Addison Court. Their owners had a vision to incorporate sensory resources in their corridors and bathrooms to reduce anxiety for their dementia patients and provide reminiscence activities as they walked through the care home.
Rhino UK worked with their interior designer to design a suitable sensory tactile wall suitable for dementia sufferers with interactivity and a variety of activities for stimulating a range of senses. The custom designed tactile wall included LED lighting, aroma fans, tactile surfaces, and bells. Rhino UK installed the tactile walls within both homes along with fibre optic curtains to provide dementia friendly corridors.

Jakes Sensory World
Rhino UK was invited to tender for a Sensory and Soft play rooms at Jakes Sensory World within the Netherton Activity Centre in Sefton, Merseyside. The council had appointed their own Sensory Consultant who had designed and specified the equipment for both rooms, which made the tender process slightly more unique. Rhino UK won the tender due to their flexibility and ability to provide all equipment as specified.
The project was a great success; Rhino UK worked closely alongside the council’s appointed Sensory Consultant to achieve a fantastic project completed within the tight time schedule set, fulfilling the counsel’s specification 100%.

Royal Manchester Children's Hospital
Rhino UK was invited to tender for installing new equipment into the New Children's Hospital, unfortunately the rooms were near to completion when we were invited with electrics completed. Therefore the equipment needed for the project had to be individually fitted and along with the clients specification it was not the easiest task to meet.

Maplefields Special School
Rhino UK were invited in 2010 to visit the school to see how they were using their current Multi-Sensory and Soft Play facilities within their school.
A new school was due to open in 2012 and they invited Rhino UK to design and install a Soft Play Room and an Immersive Computer controlled multi sensory environment in the New School which expanded on their previous sensory and therapy facilities but incorporated the same concepts and widened the uses of the rooms.

Lancashire Adult Short Break Services
Lancashire County Council’s architects were specifying sensory rooms to be incorporated within a number of buildings across the county providing Short Term Breaks Services for Adults with learning difficulties.
Rhino UK worked with the architects and interior designers to reach a design solution providing age appropriate equipment to fulfill the needs of the clients using the proposed centres, whilst incorporating maximum hoist access within each room.

Cambian Group - Bletchley Park School
Rhino UK work with the Cambian Group on a regular basis to help them design and install bespoke sensory rooms in each of their new centres and establishments. The multi-sensory room designs have to be appropriate for their targeted users and vary in complexity from site to site as budget allows.
A sensory room is an important area in an autism school and requires features to ensure breakage is minimal due to the hard use and strength of the pupils.
